Terms of healthy home

1. Floor

Currently, there are various types of floors. Floors of cement or tile, kermik, or just normal soil is compacted. An important requirement is not dusty in the dry season and not muddy in the rainy season. The floor is wet and dusty is a nest of disease.

2. Roof

The roof tiles are common in both urban and rural areas. In addition to the roof tile is suitable for tropical regions can also be reached by the community and even society can create your own. However, many rural communities who can not afford for it then leaves the roof of tassel or coconut leaves can be maintained. Zinc or asbestos roofs are not suitable for rural homes, in addition to expensive also raises the temperature of the heat in the house.

3. Ventilation

Ventilation house has many functions. The first function is to keep the air flow inside the house is still fresh. This means the balance of O2 required by the occupants of the house is maintained. Lack of ventilation will cause a lack of O2 in the house which means that CO2 levels are toxic for the residents to be increased. In addition, inadequate ventilation will cause the air humidity in the room rose as a process of evaporation and absorption of fluid from the skin.

Humidity will be a good medium for bacteria pathogens (disease-causing bacteria). The second function is to liberate rather than room air ventilation of bacteria pathogenic bacteria mainly occurs because there is always air flow constantly. The bacteria are carried by air will always flow. Another function is to keep the room of the house always remains in the moisture (humidity) is optimum.

There are two kinds of ventilation, namely:

Natural ventilation, where the flow of air in the room occurs naturally via windows, doors, vents, holes in walls and so on. On the other hand natural ventilation is not beneficial because it is also the entrance of mosquitoes and other insects into the house. For that there must be other efforts to protect us from mosquito bites.
Artificial ventilation, ie by using special tools for fonts in the air stream, such as engine fan and air suction. But obviously this tool is not suited to the conditions in rural homes. It should be noted here that the manufacture of ventilation systems must be maintained so that air does not stagnate or reverse again, must flow. That is in the room of the house there should be entrance and exit of air.

4. Light

Healthy home requires a fairly light, not less and not too much. Lack of light coming into the room of the house, especially sunlight in addition to less convenient, is also a medium or a good place to live and the development of germs. Conversely too much light in the house will cause glare and can eventually damage the eyes.

The light can be divided into two, namely:

Natural light, the sun. This light is very important because it can kill pathogenic bacteria within the home, such as tuberculosis bacillus. Therefore, a healthy home should have enough light entrance. Should the entrance of light (windows) in area of at least 15-20% of floor area contained in the room of the house.
It should be noted in the conclusion sought the window so that sunlight can directly enter into the room, not blocked by other buildings. Window function here as well as ventilation as well as the entrance of light. Location window placement must also be considered and cultivated so that the sun shining on the old floor (not illuminate the wall). The entrance of natural light with glass tiles are also cultivated.
Artificial light is used instead of natural light sources, such as kerosene lamps, electrical, fire and so on.

5. Building Houses

Healthy home building floor area should be enough for occupants in it, meaning that the building floor area shall be adjusted by the number of occupants. Building area is not proportional to the number of residents will cause perjubelan (overcrowded). This has negative impact on residents kesehaan, because in addition to causing a lack of O2 consumption also when one family member affected by infectious diseases, will be easily transmitted to other family members.

6. The facilities in the Healthy Homes

A healthy house must have the following facilities:

The provision of adequate clean water,
Excreta disposal,
Disposal of waste water (used water),
Landfills,
Kitchen facilities,

In addition to these facilities, there are other facilities that need to be held separately for rural homes is a cattle pen. Because cattle are a part of life for farmers, the cattle are sometimes placed in the house. This is not healthy because livestock is sometimes a source of disease as well. Then you should, for the sake of health, livestock must be separated from their homes or made a separate enclosure.
