How to Measure Your Blood Sugar By Yourself

About 20 years ago, very few people who measure their blood sugar levels or glucose itself. Most of their blood sugar measured only occasionally, during his visit to the doctor to monitor their diabetes. But today blood glucose meter (glucose meter) is the object that is inseparable from the lives of most people with diabetes. They need to know the exact condition of their bodies at any time, whether their blood sugar goes up or down.

Blood sugar levels fluctuate from time to time. In addition, symptoms of diabetes is different in each person. Blood sugar levels cause symptoms that are a clear warning to someone, for example, makes it so frequent urination, the other person may not cause signs of anything. You can not just guess the high-low blood sugar than just symptoms of the body. In addition, most signs of new-onset diabetes occurs when blood sugar is causing damage to the body.

By measuring the blood sugar regularly, you can find out how your body reacts to different situations. You can find out how food and exercise affect your blood sugar, so it can perform the appropriate action. When blood sugar levels are very high, you can immediately consult a doctor to get medical advice. In this case, you are controlling diabetes, not vice versa. Uncontrolled diabetes can cause many serious complications in the long run.

How to measure blood sugar?

Measurement of blood sugar is very easy, but there are a few things to note. The following tips help you get the best measurements (note: these tips on how to work GlucoDr, on the other tool may be slightly different).

·         Prepare the equipment you need, namely: glucometer, alcohol, gauze / cotton, awl (lancet) and the piercer (lancing device) and test strips.
·         Wash and dry your hands before sampling to avoid contamination.
·         Insert the awl (lancet) in the appliance (lancing device). Make sure that the needle you use is new and sterile. Awl is used only for single use.
·         Place your fingertips to be stabbed. We recommend that you use a different finger so as not to cause hardening of the skin. Thumb and little finger should not be used for sampling (use the middle finger, ring finger or index finger).
·         Clean the tip of the finger to be pricked with a cotton gauze or alcohol to avoid infection.
·         Stick the needle into the tip of your finger. Wipe out the first blood with a cotton swab and let the little dots of blood formed on his fingertips. Press your finger gently to help remove the blood, but not too strong so that the sample does not mix with the liquid so that disrupt muscle measurement results.
·         When blood is not enough out, stick a needle in a second finger.
·         Insert test strip into the meter (glucose meters). Make sure that the test strips you are using has not expired. Each strip has its own expiration date which if passed would make the results inaccurate measurements.
·         Attach the end of the test strip into the circle of blood until evenly wetted parts to sample. Do not shed blood to the strip and do not be too hard put a test strip. When blood samples are adequate then the tool will begin to measure (time of measurement shown on display in the countdown).
·         Glue cotton gauze or alcohol to the tip of the pricked finger to stop the bleeding.
·         See the results of measurement on your meter gluco. When the number of measurement results is very high or low, you may need to repeat the measurement to be sure. Normal blood sugar levels are:
ü  4 s.d. 7 mmol / l or 72 s.d. 126 mg / dl (fasting)
ü  less than 10 mmol / l or 180 mg / dl (90 minutes after eating)
ü  about 8 mmol / l or 144 mg / dl (night)
