Marriage-Divorce Affect Weight Loss?

Are you among those who are married or even have been divorced? Bothconditions were found to affect your waistline, according to a new study.

According to researchers who use survey data on more than 10,000 people in order to investigate whether the marriage and divorce cause weight gain ordecline, it is known, women tend to gain weight after their wedding day, while menare most affected by the destruction of marriage.

"Divorce for men and marriage for women to promote weight gain might be large enough to pose a health risk," said Dmitry Tumin study researchers from OhioState University in the U.S..

Potential weight gain after marriage or divorce most likely experienced by those who are past the age of 30 years. "For someone in the mid 20's, it's not much difference in the probability of weight gain between someone who just got marriedand someone who has never married," said Tumin, a doctoral student in sociology.

"Married women will often have a greater role around the house than men andthey may have little time to exercise and stay in shape when compared with women who are not married," said Zhenchao Qian, associate professor ofsociology at Ohio State University.

"On the other hand, research shows that married men get health benefits frommarriage and the benefits they lost when a divorce with the increase of their weight," Qian added, as quoted from Yahoo on Monday (22 / 8). The findings were presented at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association in Las Vegas, USA.
